Code of Ethics
The Code of Ethics is a set of standards for ethical conduct of all employees of Non-Governmental Organisation “Alista” – called NGO “Alista”.
The Code of Ethics of the NGO “Alista” is intended to:
- To provide basic values and principles that all employees in NGO “Alista” should follow in their day-to-day practice;
- To affirm the will of all NGO “Alista” employees for ethics in all their practical activity;
- To focus the conduct and support the team committed to NGO “Alista” in resolving ethical dilemmas they encounter in their practice;
- To outline the moral responsibilities of all members and employees of NGO “Alista” – between themselves, to the children, the families and the society.
Core values and ethical principles of NGO “Alista“:
All NGO “Alista” employees in their work, fulfill their tasks and activities, guided by the following fundamental values and principles:
- Childhood is a critical period of human life
- The family is the natural environment for the child’s development
- Every child is unique and has unique value
- Every child is guaranteed the right to have:
- freedom of expression
- freedom of thought, conscience and religion
- forming his/her own views and the right to express his/herself freely
- Every child has the right of protection against methods of education that infringing his dignity, physical, psychological or other forms of violence or impact
- Every child has the right of protection of his normal physical, mental, moral and social development
- Every child and every family deserve receive help to develop their full potential
- To protect the best interests of the child in all cases and aspects
- Every child in risk, needs a special protection for eliminating the risk situation
- Children with special gifts are under the special protection measures
- Those who work with children must have certain personal, moral and social qualities
Internal rules of conduct of NGO “Alista” employees
- In its activities as an international adoption orgnanisation, NGO “Alista” and its employees and partners are required to to exercise the rights and obligations of good faith and by his conduct be worthy of trust and respect the society, ensure compliance with the obligations of loyalty and respect to the adoptive parents;
- Basic principle in the work of NGO “Alista” is confidentiality in relation to the information about the children, families and the work of the Organisation;
- Working in the field of international adoption, all representatives and employees working for NGO “Alista” should have professional or other appropriate education and / or training exercise in order to perform their rights and obligations, to deal with loyalty and respect the customers and representatives of the foreign partner organizations, and to be guided by these ethical standards in the best interests of the child;
- For its activities NGO “Alista” is working with different specialists: lawyers, doctors, psychologists and translators with relevant experience in the field of international adoption with integrity, professional competence, experience and responsibility;
- Specialists working with NGO “Alista” are required to be aware of and to comply with the law and international instruments, to respect Bulgarian and foreign bodies and institutions and to work with other accredited organizations in a spirit of respect and cooperation;
- Specialists working with NGO “Alista” should adhere to the principles that prevent abduction, exploitation, sale or traffick of children.
Moral responsibilities of NGO “Alista” team to the children:
- In their work “Alista”’s specialists base their practice of modern knowledge about child development and knowledge of the individual characteristics of each child;
- In all activities and practices we comply with the specific vulnerabilities of each child, working in the best interests of the child;
- We create a safe and healthy environment that encourages social, emotional and physical development of the child, we support the right of the child to freedom of expression in all matters of his interest;
- NGO „Alista”s spesialists and partenrs do not participate in practices that discriminate children in any way on the basis of race, ethnic origin, religion, sex, nationality, language, ability, or on the basis of the status, behavior or beliefs of the parents;
Moral responsibilities to the team of “Alice” to the family:
- Respect the dignity of each family and its culture, customs, language and beliefs;
- Respect the values of the family in raising and educating children;
- Inform family for all decisions concerning the child;
- We in NGO “Alista” do not use the established professional relationships with family for personal gain, and not enter into relationships with family members, which may impair the effectiveness of our work with the child;
Moral responsibilities to the team of NGO “Alista” to our colleagues
- We build and maintain a relationship of respect, trust, cooperation and collegiality;
- We exchange information and resources relevant to the welfare and protection of children’s rights;
- We work to promote our equity and our colleagues authority;
Moral responsibilities to the team of NGO “Alista” to the society
- We provide high quality services and do not offer activities for which we do not have the competence, skills or resources and capacity;
- We work to improve cooperation between organizations, as well as interdisciplinary interaction between occupations that are related to the welfare of children and families;
- We are seeking to increase the level of understanding of children and their needs of society;
- We work to promote children’s rights, as well as raising public awareness of their violation;
The multidisciplinary team of NGO “Alista” shall:
- Respect the uniqueness and potential of each child;
- Work in the best interests of the child;
- Maintain a high standard of professional conduct
- Comply with ethical rules laid down in this Code
